What it is
TEA-Lauryl Sulfate, the triethanolamine salt of Lauryl Sulfate, is a viscous and yellow liquid.

What it does
TEA-Lauryl Sulfate is a cleansing agent and is very used in shampoos and other personal care products.

Side effects
TEA-Lauryl Sulfate is safe for use in concentrations up to 10.5%. Higher concentrations may cause eye and skin irritation, especially if allowed to remain in prolonged contact with the skin.
Products containing this ingredients may give rise to nitrosoamines, which are carcinogens, in the presence of nitrate or other nitrosating agents. In addition, TEA-Lauryl Sulfate may contain small amounts of diethanolamine (DEA), which can produce nitrosamines when used in products containing N-nitrosating agents.
